Emma Kahn Lifts Broncos Past Falcons With Late Goal

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan women's soccer team defeated Bowling Green 2-1 in dramatic fashion. The game-winning goal was scored late in the 87th minute by senior forward Emma Kahn to give the Broncos the victory.

"I was very happy with our game today. The goals we scored were clean, smart and really well done." Head coach Lauren Sinacola said. "Tiffany's service is always so consistent. She is a smart player and to have her coming out of the back is just another weapon. Grace and Emma's composure today to find the back of the net was crucial and were game changers."

The Broncos got on the board in the 22nd minute. Senior midfielder Tiffany Buckler had space on the far right side and crossed it far post to Labadie for the goal. This was Labadie's team leading fourth goal of the season and Buckler's first assist of the season.

Bowling Green tied the game up in the 66th minute. Paige Casto found the back of the net for the Falcons.

In the 87th minute Buckler passed to Kahn outside the 18-yard box, then fired a rocket into the back of the net to give the Broncos the lead and the win. This game-winner was Kahn's second goal of the season and Buckler's second assist of the night.

"Bowling Green really challenged us today … we knew heading into the second half they were going to be a handful." Sinacola stated. "I thought we defended well but they were still able to capitalize on their pressure. The team showed true resilience to battle out a win after letting a goal in. The praise goes to the team. They played with passion today and played all the way through."

Buckler recorded her first multi assist game of her career. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Stephanie Heber added to the great defensive effort by making seven saves.

"We have a quick turnaround to get ready for another tough match Sunday. We are always excited to compete on our home field."

The next game for the Broncos is against Toledo Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. at the WMU Soccer Complex
