CLEVELAND, Ohio- Western Michigan head coach Chad Wiseman has been named the 2017 Mid-American Conference Men's Soccer Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Wiseman led the Broncos to their first ever MAC regular season championship with an undefeated 5-0-0 conference record. Western Michigan (15-2-1 overall) also set a program record for most wins in a season and tied the school record with 12 shutouts.

The Broncos also set a program record with eight All-MAC selections, including five players on the first team. Senior Brandon Bye was named MAC Player of the Year, the first ever for Western Michigan.

"It is always very humbling when your peers acknowledge you," Wiseman said. "For me, this is a reflection of how talented and committed our staff is.  Josh, Shane, Marc, Dan and Doug mean so much to this program and the success it has achieved. They work extremely hard, form great relationships with our athletes and are as loyal as it comes. I'm awfully grateful to have these guys on staff, the players are the ones that benefit from it the most."

WMU is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation, highest ever in school history and has been ranked for nine consecutive weeks, spending five of those in the top 10.

As the regular season MAC champion, Western Michigan also has rights to the No.1 seed in the MAC Tournament, which the Broncos will host, Nov. 10 & 12.

The MAC Coach of the Year honor is the second for Wiseman, who is in his fifth season at Western Michigan. Wiseman also earned the honor in 2015.
