CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan soccer team wrapped up the 2017 season sweeping the Mid-American Conference weekly awards. Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Heber was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week and senior forward Emma Kahn was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Heber made six saves to earn her eighth clean sheet of the season in the 1-0 win at Northern Illinois last Thursday. The win resulted in WMU reaching 10 on the season and helping both Heber and Kahn become part of just the second class in program history to reach 10 or more wins all four seasons of their careers.
Kahn netted the game-winning goal in the victory over the Huskies. Her fourth goal of the season came as a header off of a free kick by Maria Jaramillo in the 60th minute. The win also resulted in Western Michigan jumping up to sixth overall in the MAC to secure a spot in the MAC Tournament.
Western Michigan's season came to an end after a 2-1 loss to Toledo in the MAC Quarterfinals on Sunday.
