KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan football announced the addition of Gerrit Chernoff as the director of player personnel today. Chernoff comes to Kalamazoo after five years as the director of personnel at Iowa State.
“Gerrit is an extremely high character, high motivated individual,” head coach P.J. Fleck said. “He spent eight years in the Big 12 and was the recruiting coordinator for Paul Rhoades at Iowa State. He brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our program.”
In his role at Iowa State, Chernoff assisted with day-to-day recruiting operations, such as managing the team's recruiting database, coordinating official and unofficial visits, creation of recruitment materials and management of student assistants. Chernoff also managed the website www.istatefb.com. He was honored as one of the top five “Directors of Operations of the Year” by Tom Lemming in 2014.
He spent one season with the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League. A 2008 graduate of Michigan, Chernoff was head manager for two seasons on the Wolverine men's basketball program.
