Hockey Cares is a joint charitable initiative founded in 2007 by Western Michigan University and the American Cancer Society (ACS) to raise vital funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. over the past two years, Hockey Cares has raised more than $22,000 to fight cancer right her in Southwest Michigan. 

The ACS has programs and services available to those touched by cancer throughout Southwest Michigan, including free transportation to livedaving treatments, a one-on-one mentoring program for brest cancer patients, Cancer Resource Centers within hostpitals and treatment centers to provide information and support during cancer treatment and much more.
