FINAL RESULTS

West Lafayette, Ind. -- Senior Jennifer Roberts finished 66th overall in her final cross country race and the Western Michigan cross country team ended its season at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon.

The Broncos took only six runners with them, but a majority of the runners all finished with personal bests.
 
Roberts, two weeks removed from being named to the All-Mid-American Conference team, finished with a time of 22:45.3 and was once again Western Michigan's top finisher.

"I am really happy with the way she finished her career with cross country," said head coach Kelly Lycan. "She had a great freshman year and then battled with injuries during her middle years but she finished incredibly strong in her senior season and I am very proud of her."

Freshman Brittni Hutton was WMU's second finisher, finishing with a time of 22:59.2 in what was described as slick and muddy conditions. Sophomore Jenna Matthews was the third finisher for the Broncos, putting up a time of 23:48.

Senior Becky Horn finished fourth for the Broncos with a time of 24:09.6 and senior Jenny Friday finished out the top five with a time of 25:40.9.

"To see the progress that Becky has made during the past two months has been amazing," commented Lycan. "Coach (Brionne) Yosten's training both physically and mentally has helped her out a lot. It was fun to see her finished up one of the best careers in the history of the program."

"I was really proud of the seniors," finalized Lycan. "They did all they could do to help the team and didn't leave anything out there."
