CLEVELAND -- For the second time in as many weeks, the Mid-American Conference announced that a Western Michigan player is the MAC West Men's Basketball Player of the Week. This week, senior center Joe Reitz (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) was honored after junior forward Derek Drews won last week.

Reitz led Western Michigan (2-2) with 19.0 points on 59.1 percent shooting and 5.5 rebounds per game in a split of a pair of road games to earn the fifth MAC weekly honor of his career.

With 38 points in two games, Reitz moved into seventh place in career scoring at WMU with 1,295 points.

He started the week by scoring 15 of his 21 points in the second half in the Broncos' near upset victory at No. 12 Oregon in the World Vision Invitational. He led WMU with 17 points and nine rebounds, including the game-winning hook shot in the lane to beat the shot clock with 18 seconds remaining, at Loyola.

The Broncos play their fifth straight road game tonight at 7 p.m. against Detroit (1-1).
