Gary Fund Campaign Breaks Record Again in 2010

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Mike Gary Athletic Fund set its sights high for the 2010 campaign with a goal of over $1 million and yet again the great work of the volunteers and the generous donations of the Bronco faithful surpassed the goal with $1,034,738 in total donations. This eclipses last year's previous record total of $1,022,045.

"I wish to thank every volunteer on this year's Mike Gary Athletic Fund annual campaign for their efforts again this year.  We set the mark at over $1 million and again we achieved that goal, which surpasses last year's record-setting amount.  The support of the WMU athletic community never ceases to amaze me and on behalf of the the athletic department and our student-athletes, I want to say thank you for all you do," stated Rob Hunt, director of athletic development at Western Michigan.

The Gary Fund volunteers again surpassed the $475,000 mark for call-in donations with a total of $477,488. The announcement was made at the Mike Gary Athletic Fund Celebration held at the Gilmore House hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Dunn.

In attendance were the Gary Fund volunteers, the WMU head coaches and athletic staff. The chair for the 2010 campaign was Jim Everts and the Vice Chair was Tom King.  Lou White, Fred Sitkins, Gary Guina, Ron Simpson, Larry Lueth, Jim Lamborn and Jim Hall served as Team Captains.

Most Money Raised by a Team - Lou White (Captain), John Everts, Curtis Cleveland, Bill Parsons, Doug Wills, and Don Garratt
Most Money Raised by an individual - John Everts
Largest Increase - Dave Wells
Special Effort Award - Jon Dixon
Team Captain and Champion's Club Promo winner - Jim Lamborn
