CINCINNATI- Kyle Galbraith hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth to lead Western Michigan (3-9) to a 6-2 victory over Cincinnati Friday. The junior outfielder went 4-for-5 at the plate and three other Broncos had multi-hit days.
Galbraith’s first hit led to the Broncos’ first run. He led off the third with a double, moved over to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Chris Lewis RBI single. Galbraith’s team-leading fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot in the fourth extended Western Michigan’s lead to 4-0.
The Bearcats (6-6) scored a run on a pair of doubles in the fifth, but Western Michigan fired back with a run in the top of the sixth. Galbraith doubled a second time and scored on a base hit by freshman Jack Scanlon.
A hit and an error resulted in an unearned run for Cincinnati in the seventh.
Billy Morrison (2-2) earned the win, scattering six hits over 6.1 innings, allowing just two runs (one earned). He struck out three batters. John Navage threw two innings surrendering just one hit and Derek Mosher retired the final two batters in order.
