KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Western Michigan right-handed pitcher Gabe Berman was recently recognized by the Jewish Sports Review as a 2013 Division I College Baseball First Team All-American. Berman is one of 17 student-athletes from around the country to earn the award, and one of only seven pitchers.

As a freshman this past season, Berman totaled five of Western Michigan's 10 saves and had a 1-1 record with a 3.18 ERA. He appeared in 18 games, logging 28.1 innings of relief. Berman struck out 18 batters, did not allow a home run and held opposing hitters to a team-low .210 batting average.

From the Olympics to high school sports, the Jewish Sports Review recognizes Jewish athletes all over the world in various levels of sport. The JSR selects Jewish All-America College teams for: baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, softball and soccer.
