Western Michigan Falls in Series Finale Against Toledo

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan (13-28, 6-12 MAC) baseball dropped decisive game three against Toledo Sunday, 8-2. The Broncos travel to Valparaiso Tuesday and Northwestern Wednesday in non-conference action.

Toledo (17-25, 8-10 MAC) scored a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and another in the top of the sixth to open a 5-0 lead. Western Michigan fought back with runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh but the Rockets put the game out of reach by plating three in the eighth.

Andrew Sohn got on base in the sixth with a bunt single and scored on a two-out single to left field by Caleb Caton.

Pinch hitter Dan Shutes reached in the seventh on an error, moved to third on a double down the left line by Vinnie Booker and crossed the dish on a groundout by Theo Picciriili.

Jared Kujawa led seven different Broncos with a hit, going to 2-for-4.

Left-handed senior Mike Moyer (3-5) went five innings in a starting effort and gave up four runs and eight hits in the loss.

Toledo had 15 hits in the game, four for extra bases. Ben Hammer went 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

Left-hander Ben Wilkinson (4-3) tossed his fourth complete game of the year for the Rockets, earning the win.
