Eagles Claim Sweep Over Bronco Baseball

YPSILANTI, Mich.- Eastern Michigan defeated Western Michigan in Sunday's game three of this weekend's baseball series, 7-4, completing the sweep of the Broncos.

Game three was a back-and-forth battle, with Western Michigan striking first with a run in the third on a double down the left line by Caleb Caton and an RBI single by Vinnie Booker. Eastern Michigan knotted the game at one-all in the bottom of the fourth.

The Broncos (12-26,5-10 MAC) took a 3-1 lead with runs in the top of the fourth and fifth. Theo Piccirilli was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth and Hunter Prince in the fifth on an RBI single by Patrick Duncan.

Eastern Michigan (18-18,8-7 MAC) plated three runs in the sixth to pull ahead, 4-3, but Western Michigan tied the score with a run in the top of the seventh. Booker was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored after a pair of groundouts. Andrew Sohn registered the RBI.

The Eagles scored three runs on four hits in the bottom the eighth off of freshman Derek Schneider, who relieved starter Mike Moyer in the sixth. Schneider (1-1) took the loss, throwing 2.2 innings.

Kristian Calibuso (1-0) earned the win for EMU, tossing the final two innings and allowing just one hit.

Western Michigan had seven hits in the game, Booker, Prince and Caton each with two.
