Broncos Head to Eastern Michigan For Three-Game Series

KALAMAZOO, Mich.– The Bronco baseball team heads to Eastern Michigan this weekend to take on the Eagles. The three-game Mid-American Conference series will begin on Friday, April 19 at 6 p.m. Saturday will see a first pitch of 3 p.m. and the series will conclude on Sunday at 1 p.m.

GAME INFORMATION
Western Michigan University (12-23, 5-7 MAC) vs. Eastern Michigan University (15-18, 5-7 MAC)

WE’RE HALF WAY THERE
This weekend marks the half way point in the Mid-American Conference schedule … Northern Illinois sits atop the MAC West with a 9-3 conference record … Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, and Central Michigan all have a record of 5-7, giving them each a current share of second place.

A LOOK AT THE BRONCOS
Western Michigan is coming off of victory over defending Horizon League champion Valparaiso, 5-4, on Tuesday … Redshirt senior Casey Hall picked up his second career win and junior second baseman Theo Piccirilli went 4-for-4 at the plate … Piccirilli’s performance was his second four-hit game of the season … Sophomore shortstop Andrew Sohn leads all conference players with over 100 at-bats in average at .367 … The Broncos are hitting .250 as a team with three players over the .300 mark (Sohn, Buglione, Piccirilli) ... Western Michigan has a team ERA of 5.17… WMU also leads the MAC in sacrifice bunts as a team with 43.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Last weekend the Eagles hosted Buffalo for a three-game series, dropping two of three to the Bulls … Leading EMU in hitting is redshirt junior Sam Ott (.356) who has 14 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 30 runs batted in … As a team the Eagles are hitting .268 and have a staff ERA of 4.79 … Eastern Michigan leads the MAC in total bases (434) and triples (14).

HISTORY BETWEEN THE TWO TEAMS
Friday will be the 159th meeting between the Broncos and Eagles … The series has been very close, with Western Michigan leading the all-time series 79-77 … The Eagles have won 11 of the last 13 meetings, including a three-game sweep of the Broncos last season.
