COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Western Michigan's Shane Berschbach and Frank Slubowski earned the first weekly honors from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference in program history on Monday afternoon.

Berschbach was named NCHC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Brice Alaska Goal Rush in scoring with three goals and one assist in two games. In Friday's 6-2 win he netted two goals and tallied an assist on the game's opening goal for his third three-point game of his career. In Saturday's 3-3 tie against Alaska he put the Broncos up 3-2 with just over a minute left in the game for his third goal of the weekend and of the season. Berschbach was also named to the Brice Alaska Goal Rush All-Tournament Team.

Slubowski earned his first career NCHC Goalie of the Week award after posting a 1-0-1 record, a 2.41 goals against average and a .914 save percentage on the weekend. The junior netminder made 24 saves in Friday's 6-2 win over Alaska-Anchorage and followed it up by a 29 save performance on Saturday night in a 3-3 tie at Alaska-Fairbanks. Slubowski's play helped WMU finish runners-up at the Brice Alaska Goal Rush and he was named to the All-Tournament Team as a result.

The Broncos are off this week and open up NCHC play hosting Colorado College on Nov. 1 and 2 at 7:05 p.m.
