KALAMAZOO -- After helping No. 6 Western Michigan to its first sweep over Michigan since 1986, freshman forward Colton Hargrove has been named Gongshow Gear CCHA Rookie of the Week.

Hargrove (Rockwall, Texas/Fargo Force, USHL) netted the game-winning goal in Friday’s 3-2 win over the Wolverines, while firing off four shots on goal.  On Saturday he matched a career-high with two goals in WMU’s 5-1 rout of Michigan. His first goal capped off a three-goal second period. His second goal put the game out of reach, making it 5-1 early in the third period. Hargrove also fired off a career-high five shots on goal and finished with a best +3.

This is the second time this season he has been named CCHA Rookie of the Week and the third time a Bronco has taken the honors. Hargrove previously was honored after netting two goals in a series at Bemidji State.

Western Michigan heads on the road to Ferris State for a pair of games with the Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
