Harris' Double-Double Leads Western Michigan Past Ohio, 62-53

ATHENS, Ohio- The Western Michigan women's basketball team won its third in a row, defeating Ohio on the road Saturday, 62-53.

Sophomore forward Marquisha Harris registered her third-straight double-double, totaling 23 points and 15 rebounds, both career highs. Harris has five career double-doubles, all coming in the last eight games, in which she has averaged 13.8 ppg and 8.6 rpg.

Junior guard Corie Buchanan contributed 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench, 10 of those points and six of the boards coming in the second half.

Freshman Alex Morton was the third Bronco to score in double figures, tying a career-high with 11 points.

The Broncos led by as many as 13 in the first half and by five at halftime, 32-27. Ohio hit a spurt in the second half and pulled in front, owning a six-point lead with 13:29 remaining.

Harris and Buchanan went to work and Western Michigan outscored the Bobcats 25-10 the rest of the game.

The win improved WMU to 9-15 overall and 5-6 in the Mid-American Conference. Ohio dropped to 5-18 and remains winless in league play (0-11).

The Broncos look to even their conference record Wednesday, when they host rival Central Michigan (15-9, 9-2 MAC) at University Arena, at 7 p.m.

WMU currently sits fourth in the MAC West standings with five games to go in the regular season. All five games are against West opponents.
