THE TIP-OFF
Western Michigan and Michigan revisit their in-state rivalry for the first time since 2004 ... WMU is 3-6 on the season and is coming off a 80-38 win against Chicago State last Saturday, Dec. 8 ... the Broncos did not have a midweek game this week due to finals ... Michigan has won three in a row and is 8-2 on the year ... the Wolverines defeated Eastern Michigan Tuesday in Ypsilanti, 55-43.

SERIES NOTEBOOK
This will be the 29th meeting between Western Michigan and Michigan, with WMU leading the series, 17-11 ... the Broncos handed U-M a 79-62 loss the last time the two met, Dec. 14, 2004, in Kalamazoo ... the Wolverines had won the seven meetings prior to that, spanning almost 20 years ... WMU won the first ever meeting, 37-33, on Feb. 2, 1968.

THE HEAD COACHES
Western Michigan is under the direction of first-year head coach Shane Clipfell ... Clipfell was previously an assistant coach at Michigan State (2008-12) and Eastern Michigan (1999-2007) under Suzy Merchant ... Michigan is led by first-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico ... Arico previously was the head coach at St. John's for 10 seasons, leading the Red Storm to a 176-133 record, as well as four NCAA Tournaments and three WNIT appearances.

SIZING UP THE MATTER
Michigan rosters nine players 6-0 or taller and has three players listed at 6-4 ... the Wolverines only have three players shorter than 5-10 ... Western Michigan has two active players over 6-0, junior Rachel Adaline (6-3) and freshman Jessica Jessing (6-1) ... eight Broncos are shorter than 5-10, with WMU's shortest player, sophomore Jasmine Knowles listed at 5-3.

WELL TRAVELED
This will be Western Michigan's sixth road game in seven contests, as the Broncos are coming to the end of their toughest road stretch of the season ... WMU played five road games in a row Nov. 23rd through Dec. 5, traveling to Flagstaff, Ariz., for two games at the Northern Arizona Tournament, followed by games at Detroit, Oakland and IUPUI.

HARRIS HEATING UP
Sophomore forward Marquisha Harris had back-to-back career games last week, scoring 12 points at IUPUI and then going off for 18 vs. Chicago State ... her previous game career high was seven points ... she is averaging 15.0 ppg ,6.0 rpg and 2.0 apg over last two games and shot 78.9 % from the floor, knocking down 15 of 19 field goals, including 9 of 10 in the Chicago State game.
