WMU Football Adds John Kuceyeski to Staff
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - John Kuceyeski comes to WMU from Northwestern as the new director of football player personnel, a newly established position in 2013.
"I have known John and his family since my days as a player at Northern Illinois," commented head coach P.J. Fleck. He has a tremendous work ethic and, with his aspiration to be a coach one day, it is a huge benefit to the Broncos to have someone running our recruiting department with a coach's mentality. I am very excited for the future of this program with John coordinating our recruiting efforts."
Kuceyeski, a 2009 graduate of Penn State University, gathered valuable coaching and recruiting experience during his time at Northwestern. He served as the offensive and special teams quality control intern for the Wildcats during the 2010 season and moved to director of offensive quality control in 2011.
The Libertyville, Ill., native became an offensive graduate assistant at Northwestern last march, working with wide receivers during the spring and the offensive line and kickoff during the 2012 campaign.
Since joining Northwestern, Kuceyeski assisted in all phases of the program, including scouting, self-scouting, video breakdown, strength and conditioning and recruiting.
During his time at Penn State, Kuceyeski worked with five defensive linemen who were drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft and also was an integral part of the 2008 Big Ten Championship team.
