HERE’S SOMETHING YOU DID NOT KNOW
As is such with most rivalries, WMU and CMU don’t see eye to eye on many things and that includes when the series actually started.  WMU started its varsity football program in 1906 and, according to record, first played CMU in 1907 (a 27-0 win for the Broncos).  CMU claims the first meeting took place in 1905 (a 6-0 win for the Chippewas).  In actuality that game, as evidenced by the ESPN College Football Encyclopedia, was played against WMU’s junior varsity team and, thus, does not count toward the all-time series record (according to WMU).
