Bishop Earns MAC West Defensive POTW
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Senior defensive end Freddie Bishop was everywhere for the Bronco defense in a 52-14 win over UMass, recording career highs in tackles and sacks, en route to earning the first Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
Bishop (Inkster, Mich./Carleton Airport) chipped in a career high eight total tackles (three solo) with 2.0 tackles for loss, including a career high 1.5 sacks in the first half alone.
Bishop registered one of three team QB Hurries against the Minutemen and added a pass break up from his defensive end position. He joins Desmond Bozeman as the two WMU defenders to earn MAC West Defensive POTW thus far in 2012.
