KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Senior QB Alex Carder has been invited to attend the 2012 Manning Passing Academy as a counselor, July 12-15.

Carder will be one of the college quarterback counselors in the upcoming Manning Passing Academy that will take place in Thibodaux, La., on the campus of Nicholls State University.

"I received a call from Mr. (Archie) Manning inviting me to be a counselor at the family's passing academy," commented Carder. "This is going to be great, so many of the nation's top QB's will be at this camp, I am excited to be a part of it."

For almost four decades the Manning family and the quarterback position have been practically synonymous with one another. As such, their summer vacations always revolve the annual Manning Passing Academy...a family-owned and managed football camp that embraces the basic fundamentals of football while catering to the offensive skill positions of RB, TE, WR...and of course QB.

The purpose of this academy, according to the official web site (www.manningpassingacademy.com), is to create an environment of greater understanding of, and the proficiency with, the fundamentals, techniques, skills, motivation and sportsmanship necessary for success at the individual offensive skill positions in the sport of football, while expanding the overall knowledge and strategy of offensive play and defensive coverage.

The Manning Passing Academy is owned and operated by the first family of football: Archie, Cooper, Peyton and Eli Manning… and is always an integral part of their lives. As such, their summer vacations always revolve around the annual football camp which is celebrating its 17th anniversary. The Mannings are always the first to arrive, and the last to leave. They eat and sleep on-campus along with the rest of the campers and staff.

Carder is the nation's top returning QB in terms of total offense from a season ago (345.25 yards per game) and the second leading QB in the country in passing with 27.50 completions per game heading into the 2012 season.
