WMU Earns 7-0 Sweep over IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team bounced back from a setback against Butler with a perfect 7-0 sweep against the IUPUI Jaguars on Saturday in Indianapolis.  With the win, the Broncos improve to 6-7 overall on the season.

The Broncos opened the proceedings by winning doubles play, taking the first two matches before dropping the third.  The combination of April Kerr and Amanda Moccia started by taking their match 8-2, followed by an 8-0 win from Jill Pastunink & Maggie Remynse.  The third match, though, came right down to the wire; the team of Nini Sujashvili and Miloslava Shustova took their match to a 7-7 tiebreaker before falling to the Jaguars 8-7 (5).

Singles play was easier going for the Broncos, who earned two-set sweeps in every match for the shutout win.  Remynse started things off with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 1 Singles match, while Pastunink fought off the greatest challenge from the Jaguars, defeating Vanessa Whyte 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 3 Singles match.  Shustova helped preserve the shutout with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jesika Bays in the No. 5 Singles match.
