BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Junior Rachel Denny had the Broncos’ lone victory of the day, as No. 45 Indiana opened its season win a 6-1 win over Western Michigan Saturday. WMU faces its second ranked Big Ten opponent tomorrow, traveling to Ann Arbor to take on No. 8 Michigan.
Rachel Denny defeated Kayla Fujimoto at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3, for her 42nd career victory. In No. 1 singles, sophomore Maggie Reymnse played No. #91 Leslie Hureau tight in the first set, but ultimately lost, 7-6, 6-4. April Kerr and Amanda Moccia also lost a close one at No. 2 doubles, falling to IU’s Evgeniya Vertesheva and Fujimoto, 8-9. It was the first action for the Broncos (0-1) in 2011.
