Broncos Sharp On Second Day of Milwaukee Tennis Classic
Jill Pastunink continued her strong play on the weekend with a 2-0 performance on Saturday, bringing home wins in both doubles and singles play. Pastunink teamed with freshman Kelsey King - who also had a strong start to the weekend, winning her first career singles match on Friday - to notch a doubles win against Marquette's Rocio Diaz and Aleeza Kanner by the score of 8-6. Pastunink would go on to record a singles win as well, beating Detroit's Julia Fernandes 7-5, 6-1 in the afternoon.
The Broncos would have an excellent showing in the singles session against the Titans, picking up three other wins throughout the line-up. Senior Maggie Remynse earned her first win of the season against the Titans' Raina Halabi, overcoming Halabi's comeback attempt to win the set 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (8), while junior and 2012 team MVP Kathleen Hawkins came back from a set down to beat Valeryia Kulikouskaya 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (4).
Rounding out the victors for the Broncos was Caroline Aleck, who recorded her second singles victory of the weekend by taking a tiebreaker in the first set and beating Chloe Karoub 7-6 (4), 6-1.
