Men's Tennis Concludes Fall Tournament Season
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team completed its fall schedule by wrapping up the final day of the Gopher Invitational hosted by Minnesota, with a trio of Broncos picking up wins on the last day of the tournament. The Broncos will return to action in January with the beginning of the dual match season.
Andrew Cahn picked up the lone singles win for the Broncos on Sunday, taking a three-set victory against Penn's Vim DeAlwis. Cahn took the first set from DeAlwis 6-4 but droppped the second set by an identical score; the Bronco sophomore cruised past DeAlwis in the third set tiebreaker, winning 10-5 to take the set.
The doubles pairing of Matt Hamilton and Marc Shideler also picked up a doubles win on Sunday, defeating the Quakers' Thomas Spratt and Zach Lessen. The pairing cruised past the duo from Penn, taking an 8-5 decision to close out their weekend at the tournament. The win marked the second straight doubles win for Shideler, who teamed with Pablo Mora for a win on Saturday as well.
