Imel Paces WMU at Day One of The Preview

NASHPORT, Ohio - Kaylee Imel is the low scorer for the Western Michigan golf team after day one at The Preview being held at the site of the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championships.

Imel carded a 7-over par 79 with a front nine score of 40 and back nine score of 39 to lead Western Michigan's effort during the first round.  She is currently tied for 15th.

Heather Marks and Kelsey Carney are tied for 31st after the opening 18 holes, each carding 10-over par scores of 82.  Marks and Melissa Beurmann had the team's lowest nine-hole score of the day, each shooting 38 on the back.

Akron (314) is in the team lead after day one with Bowling Green (315) and Ball State (315) each one stroke back.  Non-MAC participant Bucknell is alone in fourth at 320, while Eastern Michigan is tied with Butler for fifth at 321.  WMU is alone in ninth, 12 shots off the pace (326).

The Zips' Hanna Ek, the 2010 medalist, holds a three-stroke lead over Bucknell's Jennifer Lee.  Ek fired a 1-under par score of 71.

The final round gets under way with a shotgun start on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.
