Gymnastics Falls to Central Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan gymnastics dropped Sunday's home meet to Central Michigan, 195.875 to 193.250. THe Chippewas took the lead in the opening rotation and maintained it throughout the day.

The Broncos had a team total of 48.600 on vault, 48.800 on the uneven bars, 47.350 on the balance beam and 48.500 on floor exercise. The Chippewas scored a 49.000 or better in three of the four events.

Junior Lauren Bledsoe was WMU's lone individual champion, taking first on floor with a 9.875. She also placed third on vault with a 9.825.

Freshman Kayla Weber and junior Shelby MacDonald tied for third on bars, each tallying a 9.825. Weber and junior Kelsey Turnquist went three-four on beam, Weber posting a 9.800 and Turnquist recording a 9.725.

Weber had a solid day as an all-arounder, scoring a 39.050.

Western Michigan travels to UIC for its next meet, Saturday, March 2.
