Women's Soccer Suffers Season-Ending Loss at EMU
The Broncos surrendered two goals in the opening 10 minutes before Nicole Hatcliffe netted her first career goal in the 31st minute, assisted by Lindsey Lee and Lacey Zahn. WMU could not complete the comeback despite outshooting the Eagles 21-9.
"I was very proud of my team today," said head coach Nate Norman. "We gave up two very early goals. A team with less character would have folded but we didn't and fought very hard till the end."
EMU's Bianca Rossi and Cara Cutaia netted two goals in under two minutes in the ninth and 11th minutes to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead that the Broncos were unable to surmount.
With the loss the Broncos did not finish in the top eight of the Mid-American Conference, missing out on the MAC Tournament as a result. This was the last game for WMU's five-member senior class of Kelsey Baskins, Stefana Ciraulo, Anina Cicerone, Megan Matula and Brittney Pavlica. All five played in their final games.
"I am so proud of my seniors," added Norman. "They are great players but more importantly they are great people. They have accomplished so much in their four years and should be very proud of their careers."
