Broncos Face Must-Win Situation at Eastern Michigan
The Broncos need to beat the Eagles and also need losses from Buffalo and Ohio in order to claim the eighth and final spot for the MAC Tournament, which begins on Sunday.
WMU faces a tough task in East Michigan (10-6-1, 7-3-0 MAC), who currently sit second in the MAC West and their seven conference wins rank third in the MAC. In conference play the Eagles have netted the second-most goals with 16. Their goals-per game average of 1.60 ranks third in the conference but their goals against average of 1.08 ranks second.
EMU's attack is led by Cara Cutaia, Angela Vultaggio and Bianca Rossi. The three have combined for 46 points on 19 goals and 18 assists. Rossi leads the team with seven goals, while Cutaia leads the team in assists with eight and points with 20. Vultaggio has six goals and six assists, also leading the team with 57 total shots.
The Broncos defense could be up to the task as they boast the second-best defense in the MAC, allowing just 0.70 goals per game.
