Broncos Face Tough MAC Road Test at Miami and Ball State
The Broncos (5-5-2, 1-1-2 MAC) picked up their first MAC win of the season last Sunday when they defeated Bowling Green 1-0 at home. The performance was the third shutout for the Broncos this season.
Friday's 4 p.m. kickoff pits the Broncos against a Miami team that sits at the top of the MAC East table. The RedHawks (10-2-0, 4-0-0 MAC) are one of two undefeated teams in the MAC. Through the first two weeks of the season the RedHawks boast the MAc's top offense. In the four games they have netted 11 goals while surrendering just three. In their 12 goals total they have netted 34 goals and are led by Jess Kodiak, who has eight so far this season. Including Kodiak, five different RedHawks have scored at least four goals or more while Haley Walter and Kayla Zakrzewski are tied for the team lead with six assists each. Allison Norenberg has started every game this season in goal for Miami, making 32 saves and helping the team to six shutouts.
Ball State (5-4-3, 2-1-1 MAC) has won all of its games at home this season with a 5-2-0 record in Muncie. The Cardinals have taken a more balanced approach to scoring with nine different players registering at least one goal. Nicole Pembleton and Jasmine Moses lead the team with three goals each, while Pavla Benyrova and Amanda Dreyfus are tied for the team lead in assists with three. Goalie Aubrey Buehler has played all but 33 minutes in net this season and has made 43 saves.
Following their road trip the Broncos return home to host Kent State on Oct. 12 and Ohio on Oct. 14. They are the last two home games for the Broncos this season and the team will host Senior Day against Ohio.
