Broncos Host Rockets to Open MAC Play

KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team kicks off Mid-American Conference play when they host Toledo on Friday at 4 p.m. at the WMU Soccer Complex.

The two teams met in last seasons's MAC Tournament Championship game with the Rockets blanking the Broncos 1-0 to win the tournament. Both WMU (4-4-0) and Toledo (2-6-0) are currently riding three-game losing streaks with UT coming off of losses to Samford, No. 12 Loyola and Illinois State.

Reigning MAC Offensive Player of the Year Rachel MacLeod leads the Rockets in goals with three so far this season, while three different players each have one assist for the team lead.

Toledo ranks 11th in the MAC in goals allowed with 1.50 and tied for 10th in goals per game with 0.75. The Broncos are more toward the middle of the pack, ranking fifth in goals per game at 1.38 and seventh in goals against average at 1.23.

After Friday Western Michigan heads to Northern Illinois for game on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Huskies open MAC play hosting Eastern Michigan on Friday at 5 p.m.
