Anina Cicerone Named Academic All-American
KALAMAZOO -- After becoming the first member of the women’s soccer program to be named First Team Academic All-District, Western Michigan’s Anina Cicerone has been named Capitol One First Team Academic All-American as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Cicerone, who boasts a 3.96 GPA in bio-medical sciences, helped lead the Broncos to back-to-back Mid-American Conference Championship appearances. The junior midfielder finished the season with nine goals and three assists for 21 points. Her nine goals tied a school record for goals in a season shared by Katie Markie and Stephanie Skowneski. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native was named First Team All-MAC for the first time in her career and was also named to the MAC All-Tournament Team for the second straight season.
To be eligible for Academic All-American a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 GPA and have been named First Team Academic All-District.
