KALAMAZOO -- For the first time in Western Michigan women’s soccer program history, a Bronco has been named First Team Capitol One Academic All-District as Anina Cicerone was named First Team All-District V and fellow junior Kelsey Baskins was named Second Team on Friday afternoon.

To be eligible the student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher, with all honorees voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Cicerone carries a GPA of 3.96, majoring in biomedical sciences. She was tied for the team lead in goals with eight and was just recently named First Team All-Mid-American Conference for helping the Broncos finish in third place overall. For being named first team she now becomes eligible for Capitol One Academic All-American.

Baskins, who was named Second Team All-MAC, carries the highest GPA on the team at 3.98, majoring in accounting. The center back from Novi, Mich., helped the Broncos to a record 11 shutouts so far this season and helped hold opposing teams to just 1.0 goals per game.

Thalia Playford (2006) and Chelsea McNally (2005) were the only two previous Broncos to be named Academic All-District but were named to the third team.
