Wiseman Lands 14 in His First Men's Soccer Recruiting Class
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team will bring in 14 new faces for the 2013 season, filling several needs with impact players and adding valuable depth as the program looks to challenge for a Mid-American Conference championship and NCAA Tournament berth this fall.
The group of newcomers joins 14 returners, including 12 letterwinners, from last year's team, which posted an 11-6-2 overall record.
"We are very excited about this class," said first-year head coach Chad Wiseman. "They are a massively talented and special group. If they can adjust to the level of play and pace of the MAC, we think they will help bring us to the top.
“This class is loaded with talent. We have done a great job in adding players with collegiate experience, but at the same time players who buy into what we’re doing at WMU. Of the 14 newcomers, eight will be incoming freshmen and six are transfers. We have addressed our attacking needs with outstanding, dynamic attacking players that will bolster our attack for many years to come.
“On paper we have upgraded our roster and landed one of the top recruiting classes in the MAC. We return a great deal of talent. As coaches we are now left with the task of getting these guys all to play together and for each other. It is an exciting time for WMU men’s soccer.”
