Gerlach, who was a redshirt senior this past season, graduated with a 3.87 grade-point average with a degree in biomedical sciences. He has been accepted to the Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he will pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.

Gerlach had one of his best years of his career at the plate in 2009, batting .289 with two home runs, while playing in 25 games. During MAC play, Gerlach improved his batting average to .348. He was the only Bronco to be honored as MAC Academic Athlete of the Week, earning the honor on May 7. Gerlach also serves as one of three tri-captains on this year's squad.
