Broncos Fall in Season Finale at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team completed its season 2014 dual match season with a road loss on Saturday, falling 6-1 to the Ball State Cardinals in Muncie. With the loss, the Broncos finish the season with a 13-11 overall record, 2-6 in Mid-American Conference play.

Caroline Aleck notched the sole point for the Broncos on Saturday, defeating the Cardinals' Bethany Moore in three sets in the No. 5 singles match. Aleck was felled in the first set against Moore, but bounced back for two straight wins for a 6-7 (7), 6-4, 1-0 (7) victory to give WMU its lone point of the match.

Ball State clinched the doubles point against WMU with a victory over Aleck and Kathleen Hawkins in the No. 1 doubles match, as Moore and Courtney Earnest downed the pair of Broncos 8-1 to notch the extra point. Kristel Sanders made it a 2-0 match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Meika Ashby at No. 3 singles, and Earnest put the Cardinals on the precipice of victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Hawkins. The match was clinched by Courtney Wild, who downed Sujashvili 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to wrap up the win.
