Men's Tennis Wraps Week vs. Cleveland State
Western Michigan Broncos at Cleveland State Vikings
Friday, January 24 // 7 p.m.
Westlake, Ohio // Paramount Tennis Club
This will be just the fourth-ever meeting between the Broncos and the Vikings, with Western Michigan holding a 2-1 advantage over Cleveland State in the all-time series. The Broncos pulled out a 5-2 decision in the last meeting between the two teams on Feb. 8, 2013, taking five of six singles matches after dropping the doubles point to the Vikings. Four Broncos who won singles matches against the Vikings return for this meeting, including three players - Nadin Indre, Andrew Cahn, and Pablo Mora - who required three sets to pick up their wins. Ruben Greiner cruised in his singles match, defeating Joe Vanmeter 6-0, 6-0.
Senior Nadin Indre is the only Bronco player to have played every one of his singles matches in the same spot in the line-up this year, as the two-time First Team All-MAC selection is an automatic in the No. 1 singles position. Indre is 3-0 in No. 1 singles so far this year, and has provided an additional boost to the Broncos coming out of the doubles point; Indre has been the first singles player off the court in two of his three matches, and was the second off in the other.
The Broncos have opened the 2014 dual match season with a high volume of matches in a short amount of time, with this match against the Vikings capping a long seven-day stretch for the Brown and Gold. The Broncos have now played four matches in seven days, dating back to the match at #26 Michigan last week. WMU fell in that one but took both ends of a doubleheader on Monday against Illinois-Chicago and Chicago State.
