Broncos Get Early Start at Gopher Invitational
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - A handful of Western Michigan men's tennis players started their weekend at the Gopher Invitational early, competing in a trio of singles matches the day before the Broncos were originally slated to start competition. The rest of the team will take the court on Friday, Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. in doubles play.
The trio of Pablo Mora, Matt Hamilton, and Zach Phillips all competed in singles on Thursday evening, though all three fell to competition from Penn in the late session. Mora dropped a straight sets decision to the Quakers' Blaine Willenborg in the Flight 3 Singles, losing 6-3, 6-2. Both Hamilton and Phillips competed in the Flight 4 singles, with Hamilton falling to Penn's Thomas Spratt 6-4, 6-1 and Phillips to Zach Lessen 6-3, 6-3.
