Broncos Wrap Third Day at ITA Regionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team concluded its third day at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional, with senior Nini Sujashvili splitting a pair of singles matches in the main draw.

Sujashvili opened up in the main draw against Illinois's Misia Kedzierski, with the Bronco senior coming back from a first set deficit to take control of the match. Trailing 3-2 in the first set, Sujashvili won four straight games to take the first set against Kedzierski 6-3. Kedzierski responded by taking the second set of the match 6-2, but Sujashvili was thoroughly in control of the full third set, winning 6-2 to complete the 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 victory.

Sujashvili went on to face Michigan's Emina Bektas, ranked #25 nationally in singles and seeded as the top singles player in the bracket, in the second round of the tournament. Sujashvili battled, but ultimately fell 6-1, 6-3 to Bektas. Kathleen Hawkins also fell in her second round singles match, losing 6-2, 6-4 to Notre Dame's Monica Robinson.
