Women's Tennis Concludes Weekend at Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team completed its weekend at the Hoosier Classic hosted by Indiana, with three Broncos picking up singles wins on the final day of the tournament.
Caroline Aleck earned her second singles win of the weekend, this time defeating an opponent from Cincinnati. Aleck breezed through a quick straight-sets win against Hanna Wille, defeating her 6-2, 6-2 to even her singles record at 2-2 for the season. The win capped a near-perfect weekend for the junior, who went 2-1 in the doubles matches she played in Bloomington to finish with a 4-1 mark.
Meika Ashby broke through for her first singles win of the weekend against Indiana's Paula Gutierrez, winning a tight 6-4, 6-4 decision for her seventh overall win of the season, second on the team only to Kathleen Hawkins' eight overall wins this year. Kelsey King was also able to pick up her first singles win of the weekend, and like Ashby she defeated a Hoosier to do it. King beat Mary Beth King in a fairly easy straight sets win, downing her 6-2, 6-1 for her second singles win of the year.
