Broncos Win Singles Draws at Purdue Fall Invite
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team wrapped its weekend at the Purdue Fall Invite, with three Broncos winning their respective singles draws to cap a strong showing in West Lafayette.
Top singles seed Nadin Indre won his final two singles matches of the weekend to cap a 5-0 stretch at Purdue, defeating a pair of opponents to win the Flight A Singles championship. Indre defeated DePaul's David Vieyra in the semifinal round of the bracket, coming back from a one-set deficit to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Indre had a much easier time in the finals match against Green Bay's Howard Scott, breezing through a 6-1, 6-2 result to take home the Flight A Singles title.
Ruben Greiner also picked up a flights championship, himself posting a 5-0 weekend en route to the Flight B Singles championship. Greiner found himself in a pair of three-setters en route to the title, though, starting with a semifinal match against Xavier's Michael Moe. Greiner dropped the first set before rebounding for a win against Moe, winning 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Purdue's Mateus Silva also took the first set against Greiner, but Greiner rebounded for a pair of quick set wins for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win for the title.
Elsewhere, Pablo Mora won the Flight B Singles Consolation draw, winning his semifinal match against Jan-Willem Feilzer 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the final before winning by default.
