KALAMAZOO, Mich. - A doubles pairing of future Broncos won big at the ITA Summer Circuit event hosted by Western Michigan, as incoming WMU women's tennis players Meika Ashby and Tracy Kuhle captured the doubles title on at Sorensen Courts.  The duo, who will both be freshmen on the Bronco tennis team this fall, won four straight matches over the course of the weekend to win the doubles championship.

Playing just their second-ever event together as a doubles pairing, Ashby and Kuhle enjoyed a first-round bye to the round of 16, where they defeated Lexi Rice and Leah Dancz of Grand Valley State by a score of 8-2.  The quarterfinal match was much more tightly contested, but again Ashby and Kuhle prevailed; the duo faced down a pair of five-star recruits in Alexis Casati (Illinois) and Monica Lin (Harvard), dominating a tiebreaker to win 9-8 (1) to advance to the semifinals.

Now in the final four of the bracket, Ashby and Kuhle defeated Sara Remynse (a five-star recruit committed to Michigan) and Teona Velehorschi, picking up a break for the 8-6 win and a trip to the finals.  Ashby and Kuhle closed out their strong run with a tight victory over a pair of Cornell recruits, defeating Marika Cusick (five-star) and Alexandra D'Ascenzo (four-star) 9-7 to clinch the doubles championship.
