HOUSTON, Texas - The Western Michigan women's tennis team faced their first tough test of the weekend, falling 7-0 to the Houston Cougars at John E. Hoff Courts on Friday.  With the loss, the Broncos fall to 7-8 on the season.

The Broncos put forth a solid effort in singles play, falling just short of taking two points from the Cougars during the singles session.  Nini Sujashvili saw her singles win streak snapped with a three-set loss at No. 1 singles; Sujashvili came back from being a set down to Elena Kordolaimi to take an exciting second-set tiebreaker, but ultimately dropped the match 6-1, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (6).

Jill Pastunink also made a good run at taking a singles victory against the Cougars, but reversed Sujashvili's script in that she took the first set before dropping the second.  Pastunink defeated Rocio Martin Fernandez 7-5 in the first set, but ultimately lost 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (9).  Pastunink and Sujashvili were the last matches on the court for the Broncos, as the two continued to battle throughout the match.

Houston clinched the doubles point with wins in the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches, and quickly took a 2-0 lead with a win at the No. 2 singles match by Celia Fraser over Maggie Remynse.  Dionne Sanders defeated Hailey Shanahan in the No. 6 singles match, and Charlotte Phillips clinched the win with a victory in the No. 4 singles.
