KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team came back from a 2-0 deficit to win four of six singles matches, notching the upset over the #43 Michigan State Spartans at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday.  With the win, the Broncos improve to 10-7 on the season.

The Broncos came back from being a point down after the doubles session, taking three of four singles matches in straight sets situations before earning the clinching point in a three-set comeback.  Ross VanderPloeg extended his singles win streak to four matches, coming back from a set down against the Spartans' Drew Lied to win the No. 2 singles match 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.  The win clinched the team victory for the Broncos, giving them their first win over a ranked opponent since beating #69 Purdue at home on Feb. 27, 2010.

The Spartans swept the Broncos in doubles play, winning all three matches to take the point, and actually led the match 2-0 after posting a win in the No. 4 singles match.  Andrew Cahn put the Broncos on the board with a dominant win in No. 6 singles, beating Will Davis 6-1, 6-2.  The match was tied at 2-2 when Nadin Indre defeated his second nationally-ranked singles opponent of the year, beating #109 Aaron Pfister 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

Pablo Mora put the Broncos in position to clinch the match with a win in the No. 5 singles over Harry Jadun, but Michigan State took the No. 3 singles match to knot the team match up at 3-3.  VanderPloeg outlasted Lied for his fourth straight singles victory, clinching the Broncos' victory.
