LIVE STATS

THE SERIES

This will be the second-ever meeting between the Broncos and the Penguins, with Western Michigan holding a 1-0 advantage in the rivalry.  The only previous meeting between the two teams came during the 2009 season, when the Broncos defeated the Penguins 7-0 at West Hills Athletic Club in the 2009 home opener.

This will be the second-ever meeting between the Broncos and the Panthers, with Western Michigan holding a 1-0 advantage in the rivalry.  The Broncos defeated the Panthers 7-0 in the only previous meeting, with Maggie Remynse, Nini Sujashvili, and Jill Pastunink earning singles wins; they are the only three Broncos to have played in both matches.

This will be the 11th meeting between the Broncos and the Braves, with Western Michigan holding a perfect 10-0 advantage in the all-time series against Bradley.  The last time the teams met was as part of a doubleheader during the 2012 season, with the Broncos sweeping all six singles and two doubles against the Braves.  Maggie Remynse, Kathleen Hawkins, Caroline Aleck, and Nini Sujashvili all earned victories in that match, with Aleck, Hawkins, and Remynse each going 2-0 in the match.

OVER THE HORIZON

The match against Youngstown State will be the third match that the Broncos have played against competition from the Horizon League.  So far, the results have been good; the Broncos earned a 7-0 win over Valparaiso in the second match of the season, and went on to defeat Green Bay 6-1 in a match played last weekend.  The Broncos have one more date with a Horizon League opponent this season; they host Illinois-Chicago on Feb. 23.

HAWKINS KEEPS IT COMING

Kathleen Hawkins led the Broncos in overall victories last season, and the junior has enjoyed a strong start to the 2013 dual match season.  Most recently, she was an important part of the Broncos' success last weekend; Hawkins was a force in both singles and doubles against Green Bay and Marquette, posting a 3-1 overall record.  Hawkins  teamed with freshman Hailey Shanahan to defeat Green Bay's Eleanor O'Brien and Stephanie Londre in the No. 3 doubles match, which helped the Broncos sweep the doubles point.  She was equally impressive in singles play against the Phoenix, defeating Maria Anderson 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles match.  Hawkins earned a No. 3 singles win in the Broncos' match against Marquette as well, cruising past Ali Dawson 6-2, 6-2.
