King Advances to Finals at WMU Super Challenge
King reached the finals of her singles draw by coming from behind against Waites, dropping the first set but winning the final two to ice the win. After falling behind with a 6-1 loss in the first set, King pushed back with a 6-3 win in the second to tie the match. The two players played a super-tiebreaker third set, with King outlasting Waites 10-8 in the final frame. King will face Indiana's Jithmie Jayawickrema in the finals of the draw on Sunday.
King was also an integral part of a victory in the No. 4 doubles back draw; she teamed with senior Maggie Remynse to defeat the Cyclones' Ellie Nixon and Claudia Ortiz in the finals, the pairing's second win of the weekend. Remynse and King made fairly quick work of the duo from Iowa State, downing them 8-3 for the win.
Remynse earned a singles win of her own on the day, defeating Louisville's Alex Tachovsky in the semifinals of the No. 6 singles back draw. Remynse defeated Tachovsky 6-0, 6-2 to earn her way to the finals, where she will face Marquette's Vanessa Foltinger on Sunday. Sophomore Caroline Aleck earned her way to the finals of the No. 8 singles back draw, defeating Louisville's Valentina Schneider 6-2, 6-0. Aleck will square off with a MAC foe in the final when she takes on Bowling Green's Drew Fillis.
