KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team saw one doubles team reach the finals of their draw, and two Broncos' singles players reached the semifinals of their consolation singles draws as the second day of play at the Tennessee Fall Invitational came to a close. The Broncos will conclude play with one round of doubles and two rounds of singles on Sunday.

The doubles pairing of Jim Beckwith and Stephen Payne reached the finals of the Volunteer Doubles draw with another impressive victory, defeating USC Upstate's Viktor Selander and Jacob Darling. Beckwith and Payne followed up Friday's victory over the pairing from Tennessee with another quick affair, defeating Selander and Darling 8-4. The pairing will face UT-Chattanooga's William Disterdick and Pavels Grigorjevs on Sunday.

While Payne and Beckwith were continuing on in their doubles draw, two other Broncos were heading towards the finals of their own consolation draws. Andrew Cahn picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, moving himself to a spot in the White Singles consolation semifinal with victories over UT-Chattanooga's Jackson Tresnan and Xavier's Adam Krull. Cahn started the day with a tight victory over Tresnan; he took a relatively easy first set 6-3, but was forced to trade games in the second set until overcoming Tresnan 7-5. The second match was very much the reverse; Cahn beat Krull 7-5 in the first set before moving quickly through a 6-4 second set.

Aaron Wong started his day on the right foot with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Wright State's Marc Sodini, but would be pushed well but Xavier's Michael Moe in the quarterfinal match. Wong won a tiebreaker first set by a score of 7-6 (5) before closing the deal against Moe, defeating him 6-4 in the second set to propel himself into the semifinals. Both Cahn and Wong will play in the semifinals on Sunday, facing Ricardo Pineda (Wright State) and Luis Elizondo (Louisville), respectively.
