CLEVELAND -- Western Michigan cross country's Aisha Hodge was named Mid-American Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance at the Michigan Intercollegiates last Friday.

Hodge ran a personal-best 5k time of 18:05.6 and finished third overall. Her top five finish helped the Broncos take second overall at the race. The junior from Bangor, Mich., finished as WMU's top finisher, as she has in every race this season.

This is the first ever MAC Cross Country Runner of the Week award for Hodge.

WMU heads to the Bradley Invitational on Friday for a 6k race before taking a week off to prepare for the MAC Championships. The Broncos saw significant improvements at last week's Michigan Intercollegiates. Along with Hodge, 13 other Broncos turned in personal-best 5k times on the day. Jeriesha Tucker, Rachel Whitley, Cara Cremeans and Teresa Marin all finished withing 40 seconds of Hodge to keep their main pack close.
