With now just four days remaining before the official start of the Division I collegiate hockey season, we look to our fourth reason for fans to be excited for the upcoming hockey season.

Today's focus is on the three special causes games the Broncos will part take in this season.

The first will be Military Appreciation night on Nov. 9 against Bowling Green. The Broncos will wear special jerseys and carepackages for the troops will be accepted in the lobby that weekend.

The Broncos annual Teddy Bear Toss night will be on Saturday, Dec. 8 against Ferris State. Fans are encouranged to bring teddy bears to toss on to the ice after the first intermission. All the teddy bears will be taken to Bronson's Children Hospital by the team the following morning.

WMU hosts its annual Hockey Cares weekend on Feb. 8 and 9 against Miami. The Broncos will wear their pink jerseys on Saturday and fans are encouraged to show their support by wearing pink and making donations to help fund cancer research.

The Broncos will host their Ice Duchenne Night on Friday, Feb. 22 against Notre Dame. The event was a big success last year, raising money and awareness for Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. Proceeds go to the No Bad Days Foundation, a part of the Parent Project MD organization. Assistant coach Rob Facca's son Louie is affected by the disease and was a part of last year's game by particpating in a ceremonial puck drop.
