ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Junior Kathleen Hawkins notched an impressive singles win on Saturday, and the Western Michigan women's tennis team completed its second day of competition at the Wolverine Invitational hosted by Michigan. The Broncos will conclude play tomorrow.

After bad weather moved singles play indoors on Saturday afternoon, the reigning MVP of the Broncos and MAC All-Tournament team member picked up a win against a quality Big Ten opponent. Hawkins was sharp in her win over Iowa Caitlin Hindmarsh, defeating her 6-4, 6-2 in a strong display.

The Broncos faced a difficult field on Saturday, taking on opposition from Utah, Iowa, and reigning national champion Florida. Jill Pastunink and Kelsey King had a good showing in doubles play against Iowa's Hindmarsh and Morvan McCulloch, holding close with the Big Ten foes before falling 8-5. Pastunink also had a difficult match-up in her singles match, but stayed tight with Florida's Caroline Hitimana before falling 6-1, 6-4.
